Civil rights, property rights, human dignity, taxes, immigration, security... 

We believe that whatever legal rights you may think you have as a person, a parent, or a taxpayer or citizen, they all are a house of cards if you lack the basic and fundamental right to life. 

 

Turns out we're not the first people to think that way...only others said it better:

 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

 

Today the Right to Life touches upon so many other rights and issues--

 

So, what do Thomas Jefferson's beautiful words mean today for ordinary people? 

Let's spell it out in ordinary words we can all relate to:

 

Are you a parent? 

Do you believe that your minor daughter should be taken out of state for an abortion without your permission or knowledge?

 

Are you a taxpayer?   Do you want your tax money used to pay for abortions? 

 

Are you aging or disabled? 

What happens when you become sick and need help? 

Who decides what happens to you when you're incapacitated? 

Your children?  A spouse?  Your doctor?  Your Insurance Company?  The government? 

If you have a Living Will (advance medical directive) will they read it and follow your wishes? Or theirs? 

 

Are you taking care of an aging parent? 

What happens when the insurance company decides to cut off medical care because they're rationing medical care and they think it's too expensive to continue treatment?  Or maybe they think it's more "compassionate"?

 

We can come up with many scenarios, but we think the Right to Life is a fundamental right.  We think it extends to all human beings.  We believe that the Unborn are entitled to this protection.  We also believe it is immoral to use unborn human beings as material for experimentation and research.  That's why we oppose Abortion and Embryonic Stem Cell research.

 

These are complex issues:  Parental Notification, Child Safety, Conscience Protections, Taxpayer Rights, Euthanasia.
